MARTINSVILLE, Ind. (WTHI) — The city of Martinsville took a step towards environmental conservation by hosting an event in partnership with Trees Forever.

Martinsville High School students participated by planting more than 40 trees. They learned about the benefits of conservation, including providing shade, improving air quality, and preventing soil runoff.

Mayor Robert Lovell emphasized the importance of these trees, saying they are a long-term investment for the community.

The trees were provided at no cost to the town, funded through grants.
