The Kentucky Alternative Care facility will offer one-on-one support for new and returning patients, as well as additional resources for patients.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A medical cannabis dispensary will open soon in Jefferson County.
Kentucky Alternative Care (KAC) announced it’s grand opening in Louisville will be Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
“Our goal is to provide safe, effective, and premium medical cannabis in an environment patients can trust,” Dr. Su Kang said. “This is a new program for Kentucky, and we built Kentucky Alternative Care to prioritize education, clarity, and compassionate support so patients can make informed decisions about their care.”
The facility will offer one-on-one support for new and returning patients, as well as additional resources for patients, a KAC spokesperson said.
The facility is at 2401-B Bardstown Road, across from the Kroger near Trevilian Way.
On Jan. 9, the governor said more than 17,300 Kentuckians have been approved for medical cannabis cards. Practitioners have issued nearly 26,000 electronic certifications.
A spokesperson for the Office of Medical Cannabis (OMC) told WHAS11 News in September 2025 the number of qualifying medical conditions collected from written certifications by practitioners does not match the total number of card applications.
They said practitioners might have needed to submit multiple electronic written certifications for the same person due to the previous request expiring, and the patient might have more than one qualifying condition.
Chronic pain was the number one condition patients were approved for, according to information WHAS11 News received in September.
