Twenty-one men have been charged after an “industrial-scale” cannabis farm was discovered in a Liverpool warehouse.

More than 650 plants were discovered in five growing rooms in the building on Kitchen Street at around 08:00 BST on Saturday.

Merseyside Police said the men were arrested at the scene and charged with being concerned in the production of cannabis.

They appeared at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Monday and were remanded in custody ahead of a further court appearance.

The men, aged between 22 and 53, have addresses listed in Middlesbrough, Birmingham, London, Lincoln, Southhampton and Stoke-on-Trent.

Insp Ivan Martin said: “Stop searches, warrants, land searches and arrests take place all year round, and in many instances it is thanks to the public who tell us where there are issues in the community.”
