Meta adds AI auto-replies and listing tools to Facebook marketplace
March 12, 2026
Meta Platforms is introducing a new set of artificial intelligence tools for Facebook Marketplace designed to make it easier for sellers to manage listings, respond to buyers and complete transactions more efficiently.
One of the key additions is an AI-driven auto-reply feature powered by Meta AI. The system can automatically generate responses to common buyer inquiries, particularly questions about whether an item is still available. The replies are created using information already included in the listing, such as price, pickup location, item description and availability.
Sellers will retain full control over the responses. Before sending, they can preview the AI-generated message, edit it or choose to disable the automatic replies entirely during the listing setup process. The feature is aimed at reducing the repetitive messaging sellers often deal with when buyers ask questions that are already answered in the listing.

Meta is also introducing AI-powered listing creation tools to speed up the selling process. After a seller uploads a photo of an item, Meta AI can generate a draft listing automatically. The system can populate product details and even recommend a price by analyzing similar items listed in nearby locations.
Alongside these tools, the platform is adding new transparency features for buyers. A profile summary will now appear at the top of a seller’s Marketplace page, displaying information such as how long the seller has been on Facebook, their number of friends and their activity on Marketplace, including past listings and seller ratings.
The company is also expanding shipping options within Marketplace. Sellers will be able to offer shipping for eligible items, create prepaid shipping labels and monitor orders through a dedicated dashboard.

Meta says the latest tools are designed to streamline the selling experience and help users reach more potential buyers. The updates build on existing AI features already integrated into Marketplace, including tools that assist buyers with asking relevant questions and AI-powered insights for vehicle listings.
