WASHINGTON (TNND) — Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg was tapped by President Donald Trump to be on a White House science and technology panel.

The panel is made up of 13 individuals and will play a major part in influencing the Trump administration’s policies regarding artificial intelligence, according to the Politico news outlet.

Other prominent figures on the panel include Oracle executive chairman Larry Ellison and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.

Zuckerberg said in a statement that he’s “honored to join the President’s council and work with other industry leaders to help make this happen.”

This announcement comes the same day as Meta and YouTube were found liable by a jury in a lawsuit aimed to hold social media platforms accountable for harming children.

The jury said each company’s negligence was a “substantial factor in causing harm to the plaintiff.”

The plaintiff said her use of social media caused her to be addicted to technology and increased her mental health issues.

It was also reported Wednesday that Meta has laid off hundreds of employees due to company reorganization.
