Meta Platforms Ireland has been allowed to intervene in two joined appeals before the EU’s top court, supporting the European Commission in a dispute over alleged unlawful data transfers to the US via the Facebook Login feature. If the court confirms the commission’s liability, it could also establish that Meta acted unlawfully — a finding that may set a precedent for compensation claims linked to data transfers made between the Schrems II ruling and the adoption of the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
