LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — MGM Resorts is touting a new milestone in its renewable energy strategy.

Solar energy is now powering up to 100% of daytime electricity needs at MGM’s Las Vegas Strip resorts, the company announced Tuesday.

This became possible after the Escape Solar and Storage Project in Lincoln County was completed last month.

Escape is providing MGM with 115 megawatts (MW) of solar power and 400 megawatt-hours (MWh) of battery storage. When combined with MGM’s own 100 MW solar array, the company’s access to renewable energy has more than doubled.

“With this new project coming online, we are accelerating progress toward our goal of using 100% renewable electricity domestically by 2030,” MGM President and CEO Bill Hornbuckle said in a statement.
