Micron’s draft environmental impact report for Clay chip plant to be unveiled Wednesday

June 24, 2025

CLAY, N.Y. — Micron’s draft environmental impact study is set to be released tomorrow.

The document will lay out how the company’s plans to build a computer chip fab plant at the White Pine Commerce Park in Clay will impact air and water quality, wildlife and more.

It’s expected to be hundreds of pages long and people will only have 45 days to submit comments on the plan. The report was originally supposed to be released in early June, but was delayed to ensure it provided a complete assessment of how the project will impact the environment.

Work has already begun nearby on infrastructure to support Micron. In April, crews began work on the White Pine Pump Station, which will expand sewer capacity in the area to support Micron and the supporting businesses that will also call the area home in the coming years.

Micron is expecting to break ground on their chip plant in November of this year.
