Neil Young is yanking his music from Amazon, the rock star announced this week.
In his latest stance against a major corporation, Young wrote on his website Wednesday that soon his music would be off the platform. It isn’t immediately clear whether his action includes the streaming service Amazon Music or just his physical products from the Amazon marketplace, though in his message he encouraged his fans to buy from local businesses instead.
“The time is here, forget Amazon,” Young wrote. “It is easy to buy local. Support your community.
Go to the local store. Don’t go back to the big corporations who have sold out America. We all have to give up something to save America from the Corporate Control Age it is entering. They need you to buy from them. Don’t.”

A rep for Amazon didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
This of course isn’t the first time Young has pulled his music from a platform over corporate disapproval. Back in 2022, he famously removed his music from Spotify over misinformation about vaccines that Joe Rogan had shared on his podcast. Joni Mitchell followed suit soon after, though Young had put his music back on Spotify by 2024.
Back in August, Young also announced that he was leaving Facebook, citing a report on the tech company’s policies on AI chatbot conversations with children. He alluded to that in his message this week as well, including pictures of the Meta logo on his website and writing “forget Facebook.”
Young remains among the most staunch critics of Donald Trump and his administration, particularly during Trump’s second term, coming to Bruce Springsteen’s defense amidst the president’s feud with the rock star, playing a concert for Bernie Sanders’ Fighting Oligarchy tour and releasing a new protest song aimed at Trump back in August.
“They shut down our government,” Young wrote this week, referring to the ongoing shutdown that began last week. “Your income. Your safety. Your family’s health security. Take America Back together, stop buying from the big corporations, support local business. Do the right thing. Show who you are.”
