EFFINGHAM, Ga. (WTOC) – A major manufacturing expansion in Effingham County is strengthening the region’s role in the growing electric vehicle industry.

ARCO Design/Build has completed a 100,000-square-foot expansion for Sewon America in Rincon, a project valued at $50 million.

The expansion is expected to bring approximately 100 new jobs to the area while supporting the production of automotive components tied to electric vehicles.

Sewon America, a subsidiary of South Korea-based Sewon Precision Industry, manufactures automotive body components and plays a key role in supplying parts for major manufacturers, including Hyundai Motor Group’s nearby Metaplant.

The facility was completed on an accelerated timeline, allowing operations and equipment to begin moving in ahead of full completion — helping meet growing demand in the EV sector.

Local leaders say projects like this highlight the rapid growth happening along the Savannah industrial corridor.

“This project not only strengthens our position in the electric vehicle supply chain but also brings quality jobs and long-term opportunity to our community,” said Brandt Herndon with the Effingham County Industrial Development Authority.

As electric vehicle production continues to expand across Georgia, developments like the Sewon America project reflect increasing demand for manufacturing facilities that can be built quickly and efficiently.
