March 5, 2026

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A total lunar eclipse lit up the early morning sky across the Gulf Coast this week, giving viewers a chance to see the moon turn a deep reddish color during the peak of the eclipse. FOX10 viewers sent in great photos of the celestial event.

Meanwhile, a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launch from Cape Canaveral early Wednesday morning produced a glowing “jellyfish” effect in the sky visible across parts of the Southeast.

Looking ahead, Venus and Saturn will appear close together in the evening sky this weekend, offering another opportunity for skywatchers.

In this edition of Next Weather, Meteorologist Nicholas Herboso has a look at your photos of the eclipse, the rocket launch, and what to watch for in the night sky next.
