Nike on Wednesday said it will return to Amazon, the e-commerce platform that it left in 2019, as new CEO Elliott Hill works to spark falling sales.

In a statement, Nike said the move is part of a broader effort to expand where it sells products.

“Nike is investing in our marketplace to ensure we’re offering the right products, best services, and tailored experiences to consumers wherever and however they choose to shop,” the company said.

Under previous CEO John Donahoe, Nike focused on selling its sneakers and T-shirts in its stores and on its website and mobile app. Nike’s return to Amazon is the latest sign of its abandonment of that approach.

In addition to Amazon, Nike said it’s adding new retail partners, including Printemps. Last week, Nike debuted a new retail concept with Urban Outfitters.

The Information first reported Nike’s return to Amazon after the stock market closed. Nike shares were trading slightly higher in after-hours trading.

“We like this move by Nike plain and simple,” the Wall Street firm Jefferies wrote in a note to investors. “Amazon is the largest eCommerce platform and the move further cements Nike’s brand ubiquity.”

Since he started work in October, Hill has focused on boosting morale, mending Nike’s relationships with wholesalers and getting new products to market.

“Under CEO Hill, Nike is making the right moves across company culture, product development, and distribution,” Jefferies said.

Reuters and other news outlets on Wednesday also reported that Nike prices will soon increase. More details on Nike’s pricing strategy are expected when the company reports quarterly earnings next month.

In a statement, Amazon said independent sellers currently list some Nike products on its website.

“We value independent sellers, and we’re providing an extended period of time for the small number of sellers affected to sell through their inventory of overlapping items,” Amazon said.
