Nine Local Environmental Groups Launch 9th Annual GreenGive Campaign

May 31, 2025

Nine environmental nonprofits in Anne Arundel County are joining forces for the 9th annual GreenGive, a two-day online fundraising campaign scheduled for Tuesday, June 3 and Wednesday, June 4, 2025. The event is designed to support local efforts that restore waterways, protect natural resources, and build more sustainable communities across the county.

GreenGive 2025 unites organizations focused on a range of initiatives—from living shoreline construction and creek restoration to forest protection and environmental education. The campaign highlights how collective local action can drive long-term environmental improvements throughout the region.

“With federal and state funding uncertain, it has never been more critical to act locally to protect and restore our environment. If we don’t, who will?” said Suzanne Etgen, Executive Director of the Watershed Stewards Academy. “Please join us on June 3–4 to ensure your local waterway, forest, or park is protected.”

The campaign encourages residents and businesses to support community-based organizations that often fill funding and service gaps left by larger agencies. These nonprofits lead volunteer programs, advocate for policy changes, restore habitats, and provide environmental education across the county.

Amy Clements, President of Spa Creek Conservancy, emphasized the importance of collaboration among GreenGive participants. “The Spa Creek Conservancy is an all-volunteer watershed organization with the mission of protecting and restoring Spa Creek in downtown Annapolis,” she said. “We couldn’t accomplish any of our goals without the support of GreenGive partners who contribute expertise, helping hands, and cheerleading—when the creek is at its best and at its worst. Urban creeks like Spa Creek could all use great partnerships like GreenGive.”

GreenGive’s fundraising goal for 2025 is nearly $200,000, which will support projects such as oyster restoration, tree plantings, stormwater management, and forest conservation. In addition to financial contributions, the campaign aims to build community involvement and increase awareness of local environmental challenges.

Donations can be made anytime between May 20 and June 10 to be counted toward the GreenGive campaign. To contribute or learn more about the nine participating organizations, visit www.greengive.org/donate.
