The Grand Tour has driven into the sunset. Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May’s final episode, One For The Road, aired last September on Amazon Prime. Prior to that, the trio dissolved their production company, W. Chump and Sons. We’ve seen some occasional YouTube content of the presenters living life since then, but nothing that points to a grand Grand Tour revival.

And that’s still the case today: The Grand Tour as we know it won’t return. But something is brewing at Amazon Prime. In its list of upcoming shows for April 2025 is a program called The Not Very Grand Tour, airing April 18. There are no details mentioned with the listing, just a short brief advising people to “stay tuned for updates.” That said, the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) lists the program as a television series for 2025 starring the aforementioned hosts. Interesting.

The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) goes even further, suggesting this will be a series with multiple episodes. According to BBFC, the first episode is titled The Glory and the Power and features “the team [celebrating] the combustion engine, with a look back at footage from past adventures and test drives.” In other words, it sounds like Amazon is preparing a series of greatest-hits-style clip shows.

Several of these were created from the trio’s days at Top Gear, covering everything from the most ambitious adventures to the biggest fails. This theory is supported by RadioTimes.com, which reports that Hammond and May will serve as hosts as they look back on various moments during the show’s eight-year run. Clarkson will only show up in archived footage, so it’s not a full-blown reunion. Bummer.

Hammond hasn’t pulled away from the car scene since The Grand Tour’s last episode. He makes regular appearances on DriveTribe, and he’s filmed a few short clips with May as well. Clarkson seems focused on his farm, announcing last year that season five of Clarkson’s Farm was confirmed. Also, there was the time Clarkson said modern cars “all shit,” ironically during his watch party for The Grand Tour’s final episode. So he may not be too keen on sitting down for a collection of greatest hits shows just yet.

Given how well The Grand Tour did for Amazon, don’t be surprised if a teaser crops up between now and April. Watching Hammond and May banter over past adventures should be entertaining, but it’s not the reunion fans are yearning for. In any case, we’ll probably tune in on April 18, if only to relive some of the trio’s best moments without fast-forwarding through dozens of old episodes.
