Notice a slowdown on your Amazon delivery? A change by UPS could slow it down even more

UPS said it’s cutting its Amazon deliveries by by 50%. Here’s how you can speed it up a little.

CINCINNATI — If you’re an Amazon Prime member, you may remember a few years ago when almost everything was free one- or two-day shipping. Not so much anymore, and a move by UPS this month could slow some Amazon packages even more.

If you like the sight of those brown UPS trucks pulling up to your door, you’ll see fewer in the future now that UPS has announced it is cutting its Amazon deliveries by 50% to help its bottom line. This comes as some Prime members were already complaining about slower delivery times.

“I started noticing that the packages were not coming when they stated,” said customer Latasha Wright.

Wright is one of many people who’ve noticed fewer two-day shipping options for some Amazon orders since COVID.

“I get an email saying that the packages are gonna be delayed, like the gift cards I ordered,” she said.

So her gift ended up being late.

Now the issue is Amazon is losing another delivery option, and that means it’s going to have to rely more and more on Amazon Flex drivers this year. Those are contract drivers who often use their personal cars.

A recent report by Vox found other Amazon Prime customers complaining they don’t have two-day shipping anymore.

In a screenshot provided by Vox, a Ring video doorbell had a six-day delivery estimate.

But in most cases, the slowdown was with the third-party seller. Amazon explained to Insider that Prime two-day shipping refers to the amount of time it takes for your item to arrive once it’s been processed and shipped.

Need it quickly? Look for items that say “get it tomorrow,” which typically means it’s in an Amazon warehouse.

“I thought that I would receive the package in two days,” Wright said.

If your Amazon package is delayed, contact the company through their web chat. Don’t bother trying to call Amazon. A chat agent may be able to get you that package from another shipper.
