Office of Cannabis Management listening tour discusses cannabis market

June 5, 2026

DULUTH, Minn. (KQDS-TV)- The Minnesota ‘Office of Cannabis Management’ is in the middle of a ‘listening tour’, to gather feedback, for the new, so-called, ‘cannabis market.’

The ‘listening tour’ is designed to provide the general public, and local dispensary reps, with an overview of the office’s work.

They discussed how quickly sales have surged.

Its Executive Director said, the first month it was legal to sell cannabis, sales were less than 5-million dollars. Less than a year later monthly sales jumped to 16-million dollars.

“Minnesota’s cannabis tax all goes back to the general fund, which means it can be recycled and used for things like road projects, investments in schools, investments in communities,” explained Eric Taubel, Executive Director of the Office of Cannabis Management in Minnesota.

The state also offers grants to help people learn how to grow cannabis on their own.
