FLORENCE, Ky. (WXIX) – Florence police and the Boone County Sheriff’s Office are on the scene of an officer-involved shooting outside the Amazon facility in Florence, according to Boone County dispatchers.

One suspect was shot and died. Two deputies who were involved were not hurt, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

Dispatchers tell FOX19 NOW shots were fired at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday on Industrial Road outside Amazon’s delivery station, following an “event” that began nearby around 6:30 a.m.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office confirms this started at Empire Drive and Industrial Road around 6:30 a.m.

Kentucky State Police are taking over the investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.

A spokesman for KSP says he is on his way to the scene and has no further updates.

Roads around the Amazon facility were closed earlier, but all have since reopened, though the lot to the building remains closed, dispatchers say.
