Olinia: New Mexican electric vehicle – MEXICONOW

Mexico officially unveiled the prototype of Olinia, the new 100% Mexican-made electric mini-vehicle with which the country aims to establish a national brand in the automotive industry.
President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that the goal is for Mexico to move beyond being merely an assembly country and establish its own brand of electric vehicles; Olinia is designed to meet mobility needs on narrow streets, in urban areas, and in communities across the country, with an affordable model accessible to millions of people.
This project features a compact, fully electric vehicle with low operating costs. According to the development team, the car can be charged using a standard outlet, reaches speeds of up to 31 miles per hour, and offers enough space for passengers, cargo, and even a wheelchair.
The development of Olinia involved more than 80 Mexican specialists from the Instituto Politecnico Nacional, the Instituto Tecnologico Nacional de Mexico, and various public research centers.
With Olinia, Mexico seeks to join the transition to electromobility with a national initiative focused on accessibility, innovation, and indigenous technological development.
