Omaha Tribe of Nebraska holds meeting to finalize own cannabis commission
October 27, 2025
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The first meeting of the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska’s Cannabis Commission is being held today to swear in members and appoint officers.
The meeting’s agenda also lists that a review and possible approval of the board’s regulations could also happen today, which would launch Nebraska’s first workable, regulated cannabis industry.
This comes as the State of Nebraska’s own cannabis commission has faced a series of setbacks and backlash from residents.
The Tribe’s commission will have five members, with the Attorney General as a non-voting member.
The members are Secretary Jayzon Hundley, Chairwoman Amanda Hallowell, Allison Stockman, and Arthur Isagholian.
At the meeting, members discussed if it would be possible to change or elimiante requirements to have a registration or cannabis card. Stockman said the idea of a card could discourage some who have a record from applying or working in the industry.
Previously, John Cartier, Attorney General for the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska, said the decision to make their own board was “out of necessity.”
“Next year, there’s massive cuts all across Indian country from the federal budget, over 30% slashing of programs,” said Cartier in September.
They also discussed matters like record keeping, allowing businesses to run unaccreditted while waiting for accrediation, the businesses would stay on the reservation, and more.
