On never giving up on environmental advocacy
November 14, 2025
Dear Editor,
To anybody who is thinking: “why does it matter?” “would I ever win?” “is this all I can hope for humanity?” “is collapse inevitable?” “can I really make a difference?” “damn these leaf blowers are pest-like… but who listens to me anyway?” And such questions, reflections, self-doubts, frustrations, monologues, dialogues and debates just continue.
My friend, I just have one thing to say to you: please don’t give up.
The reality is very few people care so deeply about the environment that they would actually do something about it. If you are that voice and person, please continue being an advocate. We need you.
Are you the rare person at your workspace talking about getting rid of gas-powered leaf blowers?
Are you the only person in your HoA meeting bringing up the fact that indeed leaves are not litter and must not be packed away to a dumpyard?
Are you the only person in your classroom driving attempting to drive a meaningful conversation about the necessity of figuring out a pollution-free future?
Do you think you are the only “crazy” person requesting lawn mowers that dandelions not be destroyed?
If the answer to any of the above questions is yes… WE NEED YOU. Please continue to voice your thoughts, continue to find answers and persist on making allies.
You are making a difference. Your words are making a difference. Your advocacy is driving conversation and learning, and yes, positive impact.
Please know there are others like you… even if you don’t see them or know them yet. They are also fighting each day – often by voicing their concerns in their spheres of influence and sharing a perspective that would otherwise never be shared.
So please carry on. Please don’t give up. We need you.
Thank you for being,
