Online medical cannabis programs gaining popularity
May 1, 2025
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – From 2017 to 2021, the medical cannabis industry saw 27 percent job growth nationally. All you must do is sign up for an online course that LSU Online and Continuing Education is offering for $500 a month for six months.
In partnership with Green Flower, a comprehensive virtual cannabis training program and LSU Online and Continuing Education, this program was first launched in 2023. There are five pathways in this 24-week course:
- Cannabis Healthcare and Medicine
- Cannabis Agriculture and Horticulture
- Business of Cannabis
- Cannabis Compliance & Risk Management
- Cannabis Product Development & Design
This asynchronous course begins May 5 and is in response to medical cannabis revenue nearly reaching $1 million in the most recent year on record, that being in 2023, according to a study on lendingtree.com.
Green Flower CEO Max Simon believes federal change is only a matter of time when it comes to cannabis laws. Currently, in the state of Louisiana, medical cannabis has been legal since 2015. Qualifying medical patients can legally obtain medical cannabis at the state’s licensed medical cannabis dispensaries. State law prohibits them from growing their own marijuana.
