OPP arrest driver allegedly carrying cannabis

IGNACE — OPP nabbed a suspected intoxicated driving during patrol on Wednesday evening. 

Police received reports of a fast-moving vehicle on Highway 17 near Ignace at around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. 

Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. During their investigation, police had enough evidence to charge the driver and was placed under arrest. 

OPP did not release the name of the 35-year-old Woodbridge man who is facing charges for impaired driving and other offences related to both the Cannabis Act and the Cannabis Control Act. 

The man also had their driver’s licence suspended for 30 days, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days. 

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay at a later date.
