Optimus Energy Solutions Acquires Duke Energy’s DC Fast-Charging Network in South Carolina

June 13, 2026

Optimus Energy Solutions announced that it has acquired and will continue to operate Duke Energy’s DC fast-charging network in South Carolina.

According to the press release, the network of 52 DC fast-charging stations, installed in 26 locations, was originally developed through a Duke Energy pilot program approved by the South Carolina Public Service Commission.

“Many of these charging stations serve rural communities and are located along major travel corridors. As Duke Energy’s pilot program reached its planned conclusion, OES stepped in to preserve the infrastructure through private ownership and long-term operation.”

The charging infrastructure was migrated to the ChargePoint network within two weeks, so the charging points should be easily visible on many platforms (ChargePoint and its roaming partners).

The selection of ChargePoint does not seem to be accidental, as Optimus Energy Solutions already partners with ChargePoint on other projects.

Optimus Energy Solutions states that “it plans to operate and maintain the network for decades to come as EV adoption continues to grow throughout the Southeast”. The state has over 20,000 registered electric vehicles.

Ben Pauluhn, President of Optimus Energy Solutions, said:

“We are dedicated to expanding and maintaining the US’s critical energy infrastructure. This acquisition demonstrates our commitment to and long-term investment in EV charging access. These stations provide critical charging access across South Carolina, particularly in rural areas where reliable infrastructure is essential for EV drivers.”
