Ten years of renewable energy from Borkum Riffgrund 1

Over the past decade, our first offshore wind farm in Germany, Borkum Riffgrund 1, has generated nearly 10 TWh of green electricity – that’s approx. 1 TWh every year, supplying the equivalent of around 10 % of Hamburg’s total annual electricity consumption.

By harnessing the strong North Sea winds, the offshore wind farm has avoided around 3.95 million tonnes of carbon emissions over the last 10 years – roughly 400,000 tonnes every year. That’s comparable to the annual carbon footprint of about 38,000 average German citizens.

A huge thank you to colleagues, partners, suppliers, and communities for a decade of safe operations and meaningful impact. Here’s to the next ten years of reliable, renewable power from the North Sea!
