GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) -114 workers in Golden have been fired as part of the ongoing federal funding cuts.
As reported by The Colorado Sun, employees of the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) were fired on Monday, May 5th as part of the Trump Administration’s research spending cuts.
NREL said in a statement they appreciate the contributions made by their workers and will continue to navigate the complex financial and operational landscape.
According to the White House budget request, the budget cancels over $15 billion in funds used to build unreliable renewable energy.
In early April, Chris Wright, the energy secretary visited the NREL to promote a new plan for a private data center and power plant.
