June 16, 2026

Pegasus Tech Ventures and CYBERDYNE announced the launch of a 10 billion Japanese yen ($60 million) corporate venture capital fund focused on advancing HCPS Cybernics with Physical AI and accelerating innovation in robotics, healthcare, automation, and intelligent systems.

Under the partnership, Pegasus Tech Ventures will serve as the general partner of the fund, while CYBERDYNE will participate as the sole limited partner. The initiative is designed to provide CYBERDYNE with access to Silicon Valley and other leading innovation ecosystems through Pegasus’ Venture Capital-as-a-Service platform.

The fund will invest in startups developing technologies spanning robotics, Physical AI, healthcare, automation, and intelligent systems, with a particular emphasis on integrating humans, AI-robotics, and information systems across the Human-Cyber-Physical Space (HCPS).

Founded in 2004 by Professor Yoshiyuki Sankai of the University of Tsukuba, CYBERDYNE is known for developing HAL, a wearable cyborg device that detects and responds to bioelectric signals to assist and improve human physical functions. The technology has been adopted in Japan and internationally, particularly in medical and healthcare applications.

The companies said the partnership seeks to accelerate technology development, foster new business opportunities, and support global expansion efforts while addressing challenges such as aging populations, labor shortages, and rising healthcare demands.

Pegasus Tech Ventures said it has spent more than a decade connecting corporations across Asia with Silicon Valley and the broader global innovation ecosystem. The firm manages more than 40 funds and over $2 billion in assets and has invested in more than 300 startups, including SpaceX, OpenAI, Anthropic, Airbnb, Coinbase, and X.
