Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s ‘Tomb Raider’ For Prime Video Reveals Cast & Confirms Jason Isaacs

Phoebe Waller Bridge’s Amazon Tomb Raider project has confirmed that Jason Isaacs and Sigourney Weaver will star in the upcoming series adaptation.

Deadline had revealed that both were circling over the past few weeks and Amazon has now said that Isaacs will play Atlas DeMornay, one of the canon roles, and Weaver will be Evelyn Wallis, a mysterious, high-flying woman who is keen to exploit Lara’s talents.

The pair are confirmed alongside Sophie Turner who is playing the lead. Angelina Jolie portrayed the same character in the noughties movies franchise.

The trio are joined by a wealth of new cast members. Martin Bobb-Semple will play Zip and Bill Paterson is Winston from the canon. From the Tomb Raider universe come Jack Bannon, who plays Gerry, John Heffernan, playing David, and Celebrity Traitors UK alum Celia Imrie, who is Francine. There are also roles for Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed and August Wittgenstein.

The long-gestating Amazon show is based on the video game franchise, following the adventures of world-famous archaeologist and adventurer Lara Croft. Netflix has a rival animated series, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, which stars Hayley Atwell and just aired second and final season.

“Tomb Raider boasts a plethora of iconic characters,” said Waller-Bridge. “I am thrilled to have been able to bring some personal and fan favourites to the screen while also introducing a few new rascals of our own to the mix. This cast is beyond my wildest dreams.”

Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) is creator, writer, executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Chad Hodge as co-showrunner and executive producer; they are joined by Jonathan Van Tulleken who will serve as director and executive producer. The series is executive produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Crystal Dynamics, Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robins through Wells Street Films, Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg and Timothy I. Stevenson through Story Kitchen, Michael Scheel, and Legendary Television. It is co-executive produced by Matt McInnis and Jan R. Martin as producer.
