Pipestone City Council members during a special Dec. 20 meeting approved an ordinance amending and adding a new section of city code regarding the regulation of cannabis and hemp businesses, as recommended by the Pipestone Planning Commission. The city council introduced the ordinance during its regular meeting on Dec. 16 and held the special meeting in order to have the ordinance in place before Jan. 1. Council members approved the ordinance with little discussion during the special meeting and no changes were made from when it was introduced.

In other business, during its regular meeting on Dec. 16, the council:
•Approved 2.7 percent raises for city employees in 2025.
•Scheduled the council’s annual planning session for Saturday, Feb. 1 at 9 a.m.
