Digital investing app Plynk on Thursday launched a program aimed at helping veterans leaving active duty build wealth through stocks and funds with fewer barriers.
The rollout, named Plynk Serve: Military, offers customized onboarding and education tailored toward those with military backgrounds for only $1. The company says it developed the feature after speaking with veterans about their needs during life transitions away from military service.
“Through conversations with veterans, we’ve learned that financial readiness through education is critical when transitioning from the structure of military service to the autonomy of civilian life,” Plynk Product Manager Jared Hubbard said in the company’s statement.

This insight influenced how Plynk built the new tool. Rather than forcing all users through the same process, the military-specific version uses language and imagery familiar to service members.
The program unfolds through four distinct phases within the Plynk application, according to the company. The first phase walks users through the starting steps using straightforward explanations rather than industry terminology that might confuse beginners.
As people move forward, they encounter lessons paired with practical features. Each module approaches investing from the perspective of military life, reinforcing concepts through hands-on work and examples grounded in real situations.
The platform allows users to start with minimal capital. Accounts can be opened and trades executed with just $1, according to Plynk. This removes obstacles that prevent many Americans from trying to invest for the first time.

Plynk also created a fresh category within the app labeled “Veterans-Led.” This section displays companies established by people with military backgrounds.
The company says veteran-founded businesses often embody characteristics such as discipline born from military training, flexibility in facing challenges, and strong operational practices developed through service experience. Users can browse these companies and make investment choices that connect to their own background.
The platform includes a simulated trading tool allowing users to execute practice trades in a risk-free environment. Through this feature, people can become comfortable buying and selling without using actual money.
Plynk says the feature allows users to practice and grow comfortable with buying and selling assets without risking actual money. This fits with how military training works, namely, start with controlled settings, build skills, then apply knowledge in real scenarios.

The military-focused experience activates when users identify themselves as having served during account creation, the company says. All current Plynk users can access it by updating their profile information.
Brokerage services operate through Digital Brokerage Services LLC, a member of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and Securities Investor Protection Corporation. Plynk says on its website that it also partners with Paxos Trust Company for cryptocurrency trading options.
Commission-free trading applies to U.S. stocks and funds for retail customers using Digital Brokerage, though other fees and expenses still apply depending on the trade type and account details, the company says. The application itself remains free to download and use.
