Public comment period opens for ‘Washburn Wells Environmental Assessment’
April 8, 2025
The Humboldt River Field Office has opened a public comment period on the Washburn Wells Preliminary Environmental Assessment, which outlines planned improvements.
Beginning on April 8, the public will have 30 days to study the Washburn Wells project’s preliminary environmental assessment.
Wells, a water storage tank, pipes, and troughs are among the range improvements that will be developed inside the Washburn Allotment as part of the planned action.
The restoration of riparian habitat along Little Washburn Creek would also involve low-tech restoration and the installation of a steel-fenced exclosure.
The project’s necessity stems from the Bureau of Land Management’s obligation under the Federal Land Policy Management Act of 1976, the Taylor Grazing Act of 1934, and the grazing regulations at 43 CFR 4120 to review and address appropriate uses of public lands while avoiding needless and excessive degradation.
The following address is where comments on this project must be mailed: Washburn Wells C/O Humboldt River Field Office 5100 East Winnemucca Blvd. Winnemucca, NV 89445
Comments sent via mail must be postmarked by May 6, 2025.
The BLM’s ePlanning website at the BLM National NEPA Register will offer the preliminary Environmental Assessment for review.
