Ravens QB Lamar Jackson leaves game vs. Chiefs early with hamstring injury
September 28, 2025
Lamar Jackson left Sunday’s blowout 37-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs early on Sunday afternoon due to a hamstring injury.
Jackson did not take the field for the start of their drive just before the end of the third quarter at Arrowhead Stadium, though it wasn’t immediately clear what had happened ahead of time. Instead, backup Cooper Rush went out in his place.
Quickly, the Ravens confirmed that Jackson was questionable to return with a hamstring injury. He did not return, and ended up watching the rest of the game from the bench. Further specifics are not yet known.

Jackson had gone 14-of-20 for 147 yards with a touchdown and an interception when he left the game. He was the team’s leading rusher at the time, too, with 48 yards on six carries. Jackson entered Sunday’s game with 722 passing yards and a league-high nine touchdowns.
The Ravens took the early lead on Sunday after Lamar Jackson hit Justice Hill for an 11-yard touchdown on the first drive of the game. But things went downhill quickly after that, as Jackson threw an interception and fumbled the ball away on two of their next four drives. By halftime, the Chiefs had built up a 10-point lead, which they pushed to 17 points with a touchdown right out of the gate after the break.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes hit Hollywood Brown for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter, too. That put the game out of reach and allowed them to cruise to the point win. Mahomes finished going 25-of-37 for 270 yards and four touchdowns. It was his first four-touchdown game since October 2023, too. Xavier Worthy finished with 38 yards on two carries. He led the team in receiving yards, too, with 83 on five catches. The Chiefs now sit at 2-2 after dropping back-to-back games to open the year.
Cooper Rush went 9-of-13 for 52 yards for the Ravens the rest of the way. Derrick Henry finished with 42 yards on eight carries for Baltimore, which has now lost three of their first four to start the season. Justice Hill added 76 rushing yards, the bulk of which came on a 71-yard touchdown run in garbage time. The Ravens will take on the Houston Texans, who also sit at 1-3 on the season, next weekend.
While it’s unclear how long Jackson will be sidelined, if at all, a hamstring injury is undoubtedly concerning — especially for a quarterback as mobile as he is. If he’s out for any significant amount of time, the season could get away from Baltimore quickly.
