A man has been arrested after a large cannabis farm was discovered in a village.

Lancashire Police found more than 200 plants after a drugs warrant was carried out in a building on Burnley Road, Crawshawbooth, Rawtenstall, on Monday.

Detectives said the electricity supply had been bypassed and Electricity North West attended to ensure the area was safe.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the cultivation of cannabis and immigration offences.

Cannabis plants were found in several rooms of the property.

Sgt Paul Marsden said: “The cultivation of cannabis has many hidden dangers, including risk of fire.

“Tampering with the electricity supply to power a cannabis farm can have harmful consequences.”
