Healthcare professionals, researchers, and trainees from across the country can now register for the 2025 New York State Medical Cannabis Symposium: Cannabinoids in Clinical Practice, scheduled for Nov. 7, on Long Island. Hosted by the New York State Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) in partnership with Northwell Health, the second annual gathering will explore the latest research, clinical applications, and societal implications of medical cannabis.

The symposium promises a full day of presentations, panel discussions, and networking opportunities. Featured speakers include prominent thought leaders in the field, such as Ethan Nadelmann, JD, PhD; Bonni Goldstein, MD; Meg Haney, PhD; and Ryan Vandrey, PhD. Attendees will engage with cutting-edge research on cannabinoid pharmacology, patient care, and the evolving landscape of medical cannabis in clinical practice.

A pre-symposium session on November 6 will offer a free medical cannabis course for clinicians interested in becoming certifying practitioners in the New York State Medical Cannabis Program. The day will conclude with a networking event and fireside chat with Dr. Meg Haney and Dr. Ryan Vandrey, moderated by Chief Medical Officer Dr. June Chin. This session will provide an in-depth look at current trends in cannabis research and the potential future of clinical applications.

The symposium is open to healthcare professionals nationwide, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other medical practitioners. Eligible attendees can earn up to 4.75 Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits, offering both professional development and practical knowledge for those integrating medical cannabis into patient care.

Dr. June Chin, Chief Medical Officer at OCM, emphasized the importance of the event: “The symposium provides a platform for medical professionals to engage directly with leading experts in cannabinoid science, share clinical experiences, and explore the broader health and societal impacts of medical cannabis. This year’s program reflects both the growing body of research and the increasing interest among clinicians in evidence-based applications.”

With its combination of educational programming, interactive discussions, and networking opportunities, the 2025 Medical Cannabis Symposium is poised to be an essential event for clinicians, researchers, and medical trainees seeking to expand their knowledge and expertise in this rapidly developing field.
