WHITESBORO, Texas (KXII) – A renewable energy project in Grayson County’s landfills is taking shape, transforming trash into natural gas.
Sherman, Denison and Gainesville partnered with Vitol Bio-Methane (VBM) to open a renewable natural gas facility near Whitesboro.
The facility will convert landfill gas into gas that powers homes and vehicles while reducing that landfill smell.
“With our annual intake of gas from the landfill to the plant, through that pipe, we can produce enough natural gas to support 7,000-11,000 homes annually,” said VBM Head of Compliance Scott Levay.
The Texoma facility is the first of two Vitol sites in Texas.
