Amazon Australia has launched a hiring blitz with hundreds of seasonal jobs on offer to support the upcoming mid-year sales season, including Prime Day. Jobs need to be filled across the country, with no qualifications or experience required to land the gigs.

An Amazon Australia spokesperson told Yahoo Finance that fulfilment centre associates had a starting rate of pay of $31.60. Workers can also get paid penalties for afternoon, early morning or weekend shifts.

The retail giant is looking for seasonal workers to assist with picking and packing orders for customers. However, it said it could open the door to permanent employment and a long-term career at the company.

Emily Chulanin is one Aussie who transitioned from a seasonal role to a permanent gig at the company.

“Following administrative work in [my] prior career, I was looking for a more active role,” she told Yahoo Finance.

“After three months, I applied for a full-time position and have been working with the team in a permanent capacity ever since.”

Chulanin is now working as an associate at Amazon’s Robotics Fulfilment Centre and said she enjoyed the flexibility of working four days on and three days off.

Amazon said permanent employment opportunities also included benefits such as life insurance, income protection insurance and heavily subsidised private health cover for the employee and their family.

Amazon Australia HR director of operations Jacqui Marker said the team was excited to welcome hundreds of workers to its sites.

“Whether someone is looking for temporary work or hoping to build a long-term career with Amazon, we’re proud to be creating job opportunities in our local communities while helping us deliver for our customers during Prime Day,” she said.

Amazon Australia is looking to hire 600 seasonal workers across Australia ahead of Prime Day in July.

That includes more than 350 roles in New South Wales, around 100 roles in Victoria, around 100 roles in Queensland and around 50 roles in Perth.

No qualifications or prior work experience are necessary to land the jobs, with Amazon providing all training and support.

Full-time schedules are available, and shift options include days and nights. You’ll usually work at least one day over the weekend.
