Richard Sherman shares photos, video of armed suspects breaking into his home

April 1, 2025

Former NFL defensive back Richard Sherman and his wife, Ashley Moss, shared photos and video on social media of armed suspects who broke into their home in Washington state over the weekend.

“House being robbed at gun point with my family in it isn’t what anyone wants for a birthday gift,” Sherman wrote on X, accompanied by the surveillance captured on his home security system. “Scary situation that my wife handled masterfully and kept my kids safe. If anyone has any info that can help find these people please reach out.”

Timestamps from the recordings place the break-in just before midnight local time Sunday, which was also Sherman’s 37th birthday.

Police have confirmed an active investigation into the incident, according to multiple reports, including ABC News. No arrests have been made as of writing.

The 11-second video shows three individuals breaking and entering through a window before one of them tossed an object in the security camera’s direction. Sherman commented on X that “it was a phone they took.”

Sherman is the latest in a string of high-profile athletes impacted by home invasions. In February, seven members of a South American crime group alleged to have targeted NFL and NBA athletes’ homes and stolen more than $2 million in valuables were charged by federal prosecutors. Among the targets were Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis.

Sherman wrote on X that the suspects shown on his residential cameras “got 5 homes from what the police told us.”

A Super Bowl champion and three-time first-team All-Pro with the Seattle Seahawks, Sherman played 11 seasons in the league, most recently in 2021 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is currently an NFL analyst for Amazon Prime’s “Thursday Night Football” broadcast.
