Richard Sherman’s WA home robbed by armed men, deputies confirm
April 1, 2025
SEATTLE – Former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman’s home in Maple Valley was robbed late Saturday night, authorities confirmed.
Sherman shared video of the robbery on Monday, which appears to show three masked men jumping out of a broken window and running. Sherman says his wife and children were inside at the time, and says they were “robbed at gunpoint.”
Additional surveillance images show the men roaming the inside of the house.
The King County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that deputies were called to the mansion just after midnight on Sunday.
Authorities say this remains an active investigation, but they have no arrests and no suspects.
Sherman claims police told him the suspects raided five other homes that night.
“It’s a horrible and scary situation,” said Max Anderson, owner of Anderson Assessments, a local security consulting firm. “Nobody deserves to go through that.”
Sherman also praised his wife, saying, “Scary situation that my Wife handled masterfully and kept my kids safe.”
FOX 13’s David Rose spoke with her on the phone. She told him that she’s angry about what her kids had to go through. Anderson says she did the right thing.
“From what I’ve seen they did everything right. They didn’t put up a fight. They complied. You are going up against multiple armed aggressors. That is an extremely dangerous situation,” said Anderson.
Anderson says investigators will still have to work to determine if it was an opportunistic attack, or if Sherman’s home was specifically targeted.
“I have also been in this world a long time and I don’t believe in coincidences,” said Anderson.
He says the timing is hard to ignore.
“It was Richard’s birthday, and what we often see, particularly when athletes are being targeted, is criminals will hit their home when they know or they have a high degree of confidence that the home is unoccupied,” he said.
Anderson’s best advice to stay safe; use both physical and digital security services which remove your address from online sites.
“Nobody wants to be burglarized or robbed, particularly in your home, that’s your sanctuary,” said Anderson.
The suspects are described as men in their 20’s who appeared to be very athletic.
