Road-tested Tulane heads to tough environment Thursday at UTSA
October 28, 2025
NEW ORLEANS – Something has to give.
Over the last four seasons, Tulane is 13-0 in American Conference regular-season road games.
Since 2020, UTSA has won 21 consecutive conference regular-season home games, dating back to its time in Conference USA.
Thursday, Tulane heads to the Alamodome to take on UTSA in a 6:30 p.m. game that will be televised by ESPN.
“I personally love away games,” said Tulane bandit Jordan Norman. “Hearing they haven’t lost since 2020, I’m up for that challenge.”
Added Tulane coach Jon Sumrall: “When you watch them on video, they could easily be the top team in our conference. We’ve got our work cut out for us.
“We’ll find out if we can do something that hasn’t been done in a long time. We’ve got to play better football.”
A win could propel the Green Wave (6-1, 3-0) into the national rankings for the first time this season and set the stage for a blockbuster matchup a week from Friday against No. 25 Memphis.
Tulane was among the top three teams in others receiving votes in both The Associated Press and coaches polls this week.
The Green Wave’s last two wins – over East Carolina and Army – each came on last-minute touchdowns.
While Tulane hasn’t played in San Antonio since 2013 – a 10-7 Roadrunner victory – quarterback Jake Retzlaff played in the Alamodome last December as BYU’s quarterback, when the Cougars defeated Colorado in the Alamo Bowl.
