Rome airport installs hybrid renewable energy project with second hand car batteries

A new energy storage facility at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport is using second hand car batteries in a bid to reach Net Zero Carbon by 2030. The storage system known as “Pioneer” is the largest in Italy using hybrid second-life batteries, and it’s one of the largest in Europe.
