Ryan Serhant is best known for his prowess as a real estate salesman, but he says his best investments are not made of brick and mortar.

“I had a friend who is a big crypto trader who I always thought was crazy and he convinced me to go heavy into Bitcoin when it was at $3,000 and then again when it was at $16,000,” Serhant told “The Iced Coffee Hour” podcast in an episode released earlier this month. “Those will probably forever be my greatest investments of all time.”

Bitcoin is up nearly 3,000% and 500%, respectively, from Serhant’s entry points, and he says he is still holding.

Don’t Miss:

“Those will just be held on a cold wallet and I’ll bury them in a treasure chest and Morgan Freeman will find them,” he joked.

Beyond investing in Bitcoin, Serhant has been vocal about the potential of cryptocurrencies to transform real estate transactions for years.

“I see a world very soon in which 50% of all real estate transactions are done with crypto, and where contracts are recorded on the blockchain and ‘signed’ as non-fungible tokens,” he said in his 2021 annual letter.

Serhant said the surge of cryptocurrencies had created a significant wealth transfer, adding that several of his clients that year had either used cryptocurrency profits or transacted in cryptocurrencies to make home purchases.

Serhant’s remarks came at the peak of the previous cryptocurrency bull market. The market has endured several wild swings since then and Serhant’s predictions four years later have yet to materialize.

Still, it may be too soon to bet against the real estate mogul. This year, the Trump administration ordered Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to formally consider cryptocurrencies as mortgage assets, opening a path for the cryptocurrency wealthy to purchase homes without liquidating their holdings.

Meanwhile, real estate mogul Grant Cardone has launched several funds over the past year combining real estate with Bitcoin, allowing investors to generate cash flow and gain exposure to Bitcoin’s potential upside.
