Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers (RSUM), the specialty underwriting segment of Ryan Specialty, has launched Ryan Specialty Renewables, an international renewable energy managing general underwriter.

The MGU is formed from the unification of existing company brands: PERse Americas, PERse International, de novo formations by Ryan Specialty, and Albus, previously part of Castel Underwriting Agencies, which was acquired by Ryan Specialty in May 2024. The formation of Ryan Specialty Renewables, and the strategic alignment of all the above-listed teams, will roll through the second half of 2025 as the alignment of operations is completed.

Ryan Specialty Renewables provides insurance solutions for offshore and onshore wind, solar, battery energy storage system assets and a variety of other energy transition solutions on a global basis. The combined unit will offer a wide product offering including coverage for operational facilities, construction, transit, and natural catastrophes, with the intention to continue to expand these offerings to support global energy transition.

This integration not only enhances our underwriting capabilities and technical depth but also reinforces our commitment to supporting the global energy transition,” Montgomery added.

With this restructure, the following appointments have been made:

• Jeff Smith, president, North America, Ryan Renewables, who will continue overseeing PERse Americas which falls within the Ryan Specialty Renewables banner. Smith brings over 20 years of expertise in the renewable energy insurance industry and is a founding member of PERse Americas, most recently serving as president PERse North America. • Stuart Burchell becomes president, International, Ryan Specialty Renewables.
