Save money and protect the environment with rain barrels
April 3, 2025
BELOIT, Wis. (WIFR) – Rain barrels can save you money on water bills while protecting the environment. An upcoming workshop will help you build your own.
The Rock River Coalition is hosting a Rain Barrel Workshop from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10 at the City of Beloit Utilities and Engineering Facility.
At the event, attendees will receive an upcycled rain barrel and an installation kit. Guests will be instructed on how to prepare and install the rain barrel under their home’s downspout.
Rain barrels can help cut down on lawn and landscape irrigation.
Using rain barrels is also a great way to reduce demand for energy-intensive treated tap water.
A single 55-gallon rain barrel can help protect the environment by saving up to 1,300 gallons of water every year.
Tickets to the event will cost $15 and you must register online. Registration closes three days before the event takes place and space is limited.
