You might be familiar with how the Big Spring Sale works if you’ve ever shopped Amazon.com on Prime Day or another big annual sale.
Over the seven eligible days, there will be a series of daily deals and limited-time drops, and the site will be updated periodically with new offers. You’ll also get recommendations for on-sale items based on your shopping history and preferences.
Here are a few ways to increase your savings during the sale period using a Prime Visa card:
If you don’t already have a Prime Visa card, you can score a $100 Amazon gift card when you apply for the card, immediately after approval.
Unlike some other credit cards, there’s no spending threshold to meet before you get the bonus. You’ll receive instant access to the $100 gift card, which is loaded into your Amazon.com account. From there, you can use it to offset the cost of any items you purchase during the sale.

When you make purchases on Amazon.com with your Prime Visa card, you’ll earn 5% cash back. This week, that’s 5% back in addition to the Big Spring Sale discounts you’ll get. Here are some examples of sale items available now:
Bose Smart Dolby Atmos Soundbar
This Bluetooth soundbar speaker from Bose is typically $499, but today’s 20% off deal lowers the price to $399. There’s also a built-in Amazon Alexa so you can control the sound using your voice.
If you also use your Prime Visa card for this speaker, you could get another $19.95 in cash back.
Pacific Rim Vienna Roast ground coffee
You don’t have to shop the Amazon sale for big purchases; maybe you want to stock up on essentials. This Pacific Rim Vienna Roast ground coffee from the 365 by Whole Foods Market brand is available today for just $12.98 for a 24-ounce bag. That’s 35% less than the standard $19.99.
Using your Prime Visa card, you’ll get another $0.65 back on the sale price.
Instant Pot Duo Plus (8-quart)
Whether you’ve had the countertop appliance on your wishlist or you’re replacing an older model, you can save a lot on an Instant Pot during this week’s sale. This eight-quart model typically costs $169.95, but it is currently 29% off at $119.99.
At 5% cash back using your Prime Visa, you’ll get an additional $5.99 back.

Instead of earning rewards, you may want to take advantage of a promotional 0% APR period with equal monthly payments. At checkout, you can opt into a payment plan on eligible purchases. You’ll qualify for plans with six monthly payments on purchases of $50 or more or for 12 monthly payments on purchases of $250 or more.
Take the Bose soundbar speaker above, for example. At the $399 sale price, you’d be eligible for equal monthly payments at 0% APR for 12 months. Those monthly payments are about $33.25 per month.
Remember, you won’t earn cash-back rewards when you opt into a promotional financing plan. In this case, you would forfeit nearly $20 in cash back — but you’d still get the initial discount from Amazon’s Spring Sale promotion.

In addition to your immediate savings throughout Amazon’s Big Spring Sale, the Prime Visa can offer long-term value, too. If you’re a frequent Amazon shopper, earning 5% cash back on every Amazon purchase can quickly add up.
For example, you can offset your $139 Prime Membership fee with cash back after spending $2,800 per year on Amazon — without accounting for the value of your other ongoing benefits. If that’s already within your annual Amazon.com budget, the Prime Visa card could make a valuable addition to your wallet.
You’ll also earn 5% cash back at Whole Foods Market — one of the top rates you’ll find on groceries today if Whole Foods is a convenient grocery shopping option for you. Plus, get 5% cash back on Amazon Fresh and Chase Travel purchases, 2% cash back at gas stations, restaurants, and on local transit and commuting, and 1% cash back on everything else. That’s a wide range of rewards categories all catered to regular monthly spending.
However, you should think about your own spending habits before opening a retail card like the Prime Visa. This credit card can offer big savings, but it also makes it much easier to spend on Amazon — including impulse purchases you don’t need. If you’re already in credit card debt or you’re worried about overspending, this may not be the card for you. After all, the interest charges you’ll pay on any revolving balance will quickly outpace your 5% savings.
If you don’t shop with Amazon often, you can still save on your everyday purchases (including those of online retailers) with a top cash-back credit card.
