Sentio BioSciences, a vertically integrated pharmaceutical manufacturer for new and generic drugs, announced today that it will expand in Maryland Heights, investing more than $10.6 million and creating 58 new jobs. The company’s expansion will increase its capacity for the domestic manufacturing of generic medicines, including key starting materials, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), and drug products.

“The St. Louis region stands out as a leading location for cutting-edge employers like Sentio BioSciences,” said Governor Mike Kehoe. “This Missouri-made company’s emphasis on innovation and safety aligns perfectly with our strengths in science, technology, and manufacturing. We congratulate Sentio BioSciences and look forward to its ongoing success.”

Sentio currently manufactures three products and is in the process of submitting a fourth product to the FDA. Additional manufacturing space created through the company’s expansion will open in 2026 to support further growth. Sentio’s expanded capabilities will also include infrastructure to support contract development and manufacturing services for innovators and established life sciences companies located in Missouri and elsewhere in the United States.

“Sentio has been a strong advocate for manufacturing essential medicines in the United States, emphasizing high quality, secure and reliable supply,” said Karthik Raghavan, CEO of Sentio BioSciences. “This expansion announcement shows our continued commitment and builds on our successful track record for manufacturing essential medicines domestically.”

In addition to focusing on domestic manufacturing, Sentio is strongly committed to workforce development. Sentio has a strong on-the-job training and upskilling program for non-traditional talent pools, transforming individuals into skilled pharmaceutical technicians and analysts that are critically needed in the pharmaceutical industry today.

Quality, Safety and On-Time Delivery are foundational pillars of the Sentio culture. Achieving the OSHA SHARP certification stands as a testament to the team’s commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Sentio was also recently certified through the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP), signifying the company’s status as a model for worksite safety and health. SHARP is available for small employers who participate in the Missouri On-Site Safety and Health Consultation Program. It is designed to honor small businesses that operate effective safety and health management programs and have injury and illness rates below the national average.

“Sentio BioSciences’ expansion speaks to Missouri’s ability to produce and support companies that transform industries and improve lives,” said Michelle Hataway, Director of the Department of Economic Development. “We’re proud to join our partners in ensuring this local employer, innovator, and job creator continues to help Missourians prosper.”

For this expansion, Sentio will benefit from the Missouri Works program, a tool that helps companies expand and retain workers by providing access to capital through withholdings or tax credits for job creation.

“Sentio BioSciences has been a vital part of Maryland Heights for more than 16 years and will remain so for many years to come,” said Missouri State Senator Tracy McCreery, who represents the 24th Senatorial District in St. Louis County that includes Maryland Heights. “As the team at Sentio BioSciences continuously develops the highest quality product for their customers, we are thrilled that OSHA has recognized their tireless efforts to also set an industry standard for worksite safety and health.”

“Our priority is creating a St. Louis County that provides everyone the opportunity to be successful, and we are thrilled that Sentio BioSciences is thriving here, investing here and creating more jobs here,” said St. Louis County Executive Sam Page.

“As we work with businesses throughout the St. Louis region, we are excited when a local company is able to grow,” said Rodney Crim, CEO and President of St. Louis Economic Development Partnership. “We want to congratulate Sentio BioSciences for their success in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as the recognition that the safety of their employees is always a top priority.”
