Sidley Austin Adds Scott Bennett As Senior Capital Markets Partner In NY
April 11, 2026
Sidley Austin has added a senior capital markets partner in New York, hiring Scott Bennett from Cravath, Swaine & Moore as it continues to expand its bench in high-growth and technology-focused practices.
Bennett joins as a partner in the firm’s capital markets practice and will serve as head of technology capital markets in New York. He previously served as co-head of both the venture capital and growth equity practice and the digital assets practice at Cravath.
His practice focuses on advising issuers, investors, and investment banks on public and private securities offerings, with deep experience working with venture-backed and high-growth companies across the technology, fintech, digital assets, and artificial intelligence sectors. He also advises on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and broader strategic matters for both public and private companies.
Bennett has advised on numerous IPOs, direct listings, and other public market transactions, as well as significant venture financings and private placements, positioning him to support clients navigating capital formation and growth strategies.
The hire comes amid a broader expansion of Sidley’s capital markets capabilities and continued investment in its New York office. The firm has added multiple partners across practices in 2025 and 2026, including in tax, banking and fintech, global finance, antitrust, investment funds and private equity, and capital markets in London.
Sidley’s global capital markets team includes more than 260 lawyers advising issuers, underwriters, and other market participants across major financial centers worldwide. The firm said Bennett’s arrival strengthens its ability to serve clients operating at the intersection of venture capital, growth equity, and traditional capital markets, particularly in emerging technology sectors.
