Solar farm applies to install 56 CCTV cameras
A renewable energy company hopes to install 56 CCTV cameras around the perimeter of its 34-acre solar farm in north Devon, to reduce theft and vandalism.
Sunsave 12 Ltd said the system at Tamar Solar Farm will improve security and enhance safety of staff.
The planning application comes after a recent break-in at the site in Pyworthy, which is known for its large number of solar farms.
Planning documents by the applicant’s agent, Renewable Energy Systems (RES) said the cameras would provide full-perimeter protection.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the applicant proposed cameras would be within the existing fence line and set back from hedgerows to avoid ecological effects.
Torridge District Council’s planning committee will decide on the application in the coming weeks.
