LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Solarize Louisville was launched for the fourth consecutive year by the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability Wednesday.

Solarize Louisville was launched four years ago to help homeowners get connected with vetted installers at discounted rates. Solarize Louisville includes Jefferson, Oldham, Spencer, Shelby and Bullitt counties in Kentucky, along with Harrison, Floyd and Clark counties in southern Indiana. 

“By embracing solar, we are demonstrating our commitment to reducing energy costs for Louisville families while safeguarding our environment through clean energy,”  Mayor Craig Greenberg said in a news release. “We are taking concrete steps towards building a safer, stronger, and healthier Louisville for generations to come.”

The initiative has led to more than 220 installations to date. According to a news release, Solarize Louisville equips homeowners, small businesses, nonprofit institutions or places of worship with bulk purchasing power to make a transition to renewable energy and lower utility bills.

This year, Pure Power Solar and Daily Green Power were selected by the Mayor’s Office. Both companies will provide the same standard panel price that includes a 15-18% discount.

“We are thrilled to see the continued interest in clean energy from our community, and proud of our program partners and selected installers for helping Solarize Louisville grow and deliver great outcomes year after year,” Sumedha Rao, executive director for the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability, said in a news release.

Residents, small business owners, nonprofits and other institutions are encouraged to apply.
