Great Barrington — On Wednesday, May 21, the state’s Cannabis Control Commission filed to intervene in lawsuits filed by three marijuana dispensaries against the town.

According to a court document filed on November 11, 2024, general counsel representing the Cannabis Control Commission contacted both the dispensaries and the town on November 5, 2024, to state that the commission planned to intervene in the lawsuits.

However, general counsel notified the parties that the Commission was waiting for approvals from the Attorney General’s Office.

The motion to intervene was filed in Middlesex Superior Court.

In March 2024, Theory Wellness, Community Growth Partners, and Farnsworth Fine Cannabis, all filed lawsuits against the town over previously signed Host Community Agreements.

The town has filed a motion against the Commission intervening in the case.
