Stearns County to discuss townships’ cannabis use plans

March 9, 2025

ST. CLOUD — Stearns County commissioners will review land use agreements regarding cannabis regulation for Avon, Paynesville, Sauk Centre and Collegeville townships at its Tuesday, March 11, meeting.

According to the meeting agenda, the board will:

  • Consider adopting a resolution to transfer excess municipal state aid construction funding to the county’s regular state aid construction account. The annual municipal allocation is currently over $1.5 million, and there will be $3,067,500 left in the account after the transfer. According to the county, the transfer will reduce the amount of regular state aid advance funding the county needs to request for 2025 construction by $1,186,952.51.
  • Receive an annual summary of county-wide value changes, assessment work and sales activity for the past year from the county and assistant assessor.
  • Consider authorizing the purchase of 202 acres south of Paynesville for a new county park. At the time of the application the county committed $150,000 in matching funds with the remaining $150,000 to be raised by the Paynesville community.

The Stearns County Board of Commissioners meet every second and fourth Tuesday at 9 a.m. at 705 Courthouse Square, St. Cloud.
