BROOMFIELD, Colo. (KKTV) – A stolen Tesla led to the discovery of burglary tools, at least 10 car keys and more on Wednesday in Broomfield.

The Broomfield Police Department (BPD) said a Tesla owner called police, reporting that he tracked his vehicle, reported stolen on April 20, traveling north through Denver and into Broomfield.

Police said they spotted the vehicle just before 1 a.m. on U.S. 36, but when officers attempted to stop the Tesla, the driver kept going.

Officers again located the Tesla just west of Church Ranch Boulevard, where they said it spun out and crashed into a concrete sidewall.

According to police, the suspect and passenger fled from the vehicle but were found a few hours later hiding behind an RV.

Police said the 21-year-old male suspect and a 19-year-old woman were arrested. According to BPD, the man had four warrants, three out of Broomfield and one out of New Mexico.

Inside the Tesla, police said they found burglary tools, keys belonging to several other vehicles, blank key fobs and a stolen license plate.
